How to download video from YouTube is one of the top questions peoples that people ask on the internet, especially those that like saving videos on their phones or laptops. YouTube is a video-sharing platform that houses billions of hours of videos. People download videos from YouTube for various reasons. Part of their policy reads: “You are not allowed to…access, reproduce, download, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, alter, modify or otherwise use any part of the Service or any Content except (a) as expressly authorized by the Service; or (b) with prior written permission from YouTube and, if applicable, the respective rights holders.”

This is large because there are ads that show up when these videos are being played on YouTube, people paid for them and that’s the primary source of revenue for YouTube. Method One: Download YouTube videos directly using the ‘ss’ prefix.

This method is perhaps one of the most common methods out there that people use to download YouTube videos and I have been using this method for some years now. The good thing about this method is that you don’t need any tool for you to use it, you don’t need to have any browser extension or install an app on your phone. This method also works for any device including your Android phones, iPhone, and Windows devices both on laptops and desktops. You also have the option of downloading the video in any available format of your choices such as FLV, MP3, MP4, and MPEG.

Follow the following steps to download YouTube video using the prefix “ss”

Step 1: Open your browser and from there go to YouTube, search and click on the video you want to download

Step 2: Proceed to the video URL and add “ss” after “www.”  and immediately before the “youtube.com”

Now you will be redirected to the free download site known as savefrom.net which is the parent website of ssyoutube.com, it’s from there you will be able to save the video.

Step 1: Open the YouTube app and search for the video you want to download.

Step 2: Tap the video to play it and then tap the share button

Step 3: Select ‘YouTube downloader’ from the share menu.

Step 4:  Pick the video format you want to download either mp4 for video or mp3 for audio and then tap on download.

Step 3: Open the media where you will find a text editor, paste the URL of the video you want to download from YouTube, and click on ‘Play’.

Step 4: You should then copy the information of the video from the location text box which can be found at the bottom of the page

Step 5: Paste the URL of the video into your browser and load it.

Step 6: Your video will show up automatically, right-click on it and select ‘Save video as’
