Taking a screenshot on your iPhone is quite straightforward be it an iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 7, or iPhone XR, or which other model of iPhone you are using. Screenshots are a great way of keeping the memory of some moments on our phones which could be something we saw on the internet or we simply want to share what is displayed on our phone screen with a friend. You can use them to explain to people how to use a particular app or certain phone features.
How to screenshot on an iPhone with a home button
If you use iPhones with home buttons such as iPhone SE or any older versions such as iPhone 6 iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone SE, simply press the home button and at the same time, press the sleep/wake button.
Don’t bother to hold the buttons for too long because if you do, there is nothing that will happen. Just ensure that you press the buttons real quick. Immediately after doing that, your phone will make a camera shutter sound and will also generate a thumbnail preview of the screenshot which will move gently down the corner of your screen.
From this point, you have the option to continue taking the screenshots or you tap the image and share it. You can also make the image larger by tapping on it.
You also have the option to edit the image by using the editing tools which you will find below the screen. Just click on the plus icon down the screen and you will be able to add text, shapes, or signatures.
As soon as you have finished, tap ‘Done’ and save the image.
How to screenshot on an iPhone without a home button
If you are using an iPhone without a home button such as an iPhone XR, iPhone 11, or iPhone 12 series, press the side button and the volume-up button simultaneously. Again you don’t have to hold them for long, just a quick press and release
If you get this right, your screen will flash and then a small preview image will be generated. If you press the buttons too long, your iPhone will show you are Power off option and if you continue holding it as well, it will cause the activation of the Emergency SOS feature that automatically calls for help. So this is why it is important that you don’t hold the buttons for too long.
Just as you have with iPhones that have a home button, you can also tap on the preview image of your screenshot to edit and share it and also make it larger.
You can also edit your image with the editing tools in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Whenever you are finished, a simple tap on “Done” to save your image.
