If you have been having difficulties in transferring airtime from one network to the other, do not worry any longer, you are in the right place. No matter the network you want to transfer from be it MTN, Airtel, Glo, and Etisalat.
You will agree with me that there are crucial times in which we can be out of airtime and we need someone to send airtime to us either friends or family. It is even possible that we have airtime but some we know has an excess of it. Apart from that, you can decide that you want to compensate or do a giveaway for someone using airtime. Whatever the case is, we need to make a transfer of the airtime from one SIM card to another and that can only be done when we use the right code.
Some people think you can only transfer airtime between two SIMS of the same network, but the truth is you can also transfer to another SIM of a different network. How can this be possible? Simply follow the steps I will be showing you below:
How To Transfer Airtime From MTN To Other Networks
The majority of telecom subscribers in Nigeria are MTN users, and according to the data from Statista, MTN has about 39.5 percent share of mobile wireless subscribers in Nigeria as of March 2021. This means there may be a need for people to want to transfer airtime to other users. MTN has also made it easy for its users to send airtime to other networks. However, there are some limitations put in place by MTN to control the process:
- The daily transfer limit per day is N10, 000
- N5, 000 per single transaction
- No kobo unit when transferring, it must be in Naira e.g. Use N500 instead of N500.30
- The minimum amount you can transfer is N50
Now let’s process to the step in transferring the MTN airtime
The first thing you need to do is set your transfer pin. By default, you will be given 0000 as your pin, but you need to create a new pin which, must be 4 digits. In creating your new PIN, ensure that it is not the type that can easily be guessed by fraudsters. For example, you can use 9627 instead of 1234. Also, ensure that you don’t forget the PIN or better still, write it somewhere so that you can always get back to it when you forget.
Now that you know the PIN you want to use, the next step is to send the new PIN to 777 using this format: ; “default pin (space) new pin (space) new pin” for example,” 0000 9627 9627”, and then send it to 777 thereafter wait for confirmation.
The other option you can use is to dial *600*default pin*new pin*new pin# for example *600*0000*9627*9627#, where 9627 is your new pin.
Immediately after sending it, you will receive a message from MTMN notifying you about the successful PIN change. This means you can now transfer airtime to other networks.
To send airtime simply dial *600* recipient phone number * amount of airtime * your transfer PIN#. For example *600*0813123456*500*9627#.
How To Transfer Airtime From Airtel To Other Networks
Know as Airtel Me2U, transferring airtime from Airtel to other networks follows a similar process we shared above. The default PIN given to you by Airtel is 1234 and they expect you to change it to a new PIN. This toe around you send the message to 432, see below to see how the process goes:
Send “PIN [space] 1234 [space]New PIN” to 432 eg. PIN 1234 4373. This simply means you want to change the default pin which is 1234 to 4373.
To transfer airtime from Airtel to other networks, send an SMS command using this format: 2u [space]Airtel Number [space] Amount [space] PIN to 432. Let’s say that you want to transfer N800 worth of airtime to 08024444333, SMS 2u 08024444333 800 4373 to 432, where 4373 is your new PIN. If the transfer is successful, the recipient will receive a message to that effect while your account will also be deducted.
How To Transfer Airtime From Etisalat to other networks
To transfer airtime from Etisalat to other networks is straightforward just as the first two we looked at.
The default Etisalat transfer PIN is 0000. However, you need to change it to a more complex, dial:
*247*0000*New PIN# then Send/Ok. For example, to change your PIN to 8798, input
*247*0000*8798# and Send.
After setting up your new PIN, you can now transfer Airtime to any network of your choice
The easiest way you can transfer credit on Etisalat is to use the USSD code.
*223*PIN*Amount*Phone Number#. To transfer N1000, for example, to subscriber 0809 666 7777, simply dial *223*2345*250*08096667777# and press.
Note that for it to work, you must have at least a 10 Naira balance remaining after deducting the amount you wish to transfer.
How To Transfer Airtime On GLO to other Networks
Globacom Nigeria is part of the top players among the telecoms in Nigeria so it is important to mention them also in this article. The GLO transfer service is called GLO EasyShare subscription bundle.
Unlike the other telecom services, GLO’s transfer PIN is different because instead of 4 digits which other telecom used, it uses 5 digits.
To activate GLO EasyShare , first, change your default PIN which is 00000 to a new PIN you want to be used to make the transfer, and ensure it’s something you can remember but not too easy to guess either. So simply dial on your phone
*132*00000*New PIN *New PIN#.
So let’s say you want to use ‘59887’ as PIN, dial
*132*00000*59887*59887#. You will receive a notification asking you to confirm the PIN. To accept, press 1, or press 2 to cancel.
If you press 1, GLO will inform you that your password has been changed successfully. You can now begin to transfer airtime.
To transfer airtime, use the USSD code as follows:
*131*GLO Number*Airtime Amount*PIN# Send. For example, to send N800 to subscriber 08055666666, input *131*08055666666*800*59887# and press send, assuming your password is 59887.
