Abeg app is a Nigeria fintech company and was developed by Abeg Technologies. The Abeg app was co-founded by Muheez Akanni, Michael Okoh, and Dare Adekoya in 2019. The CEO of the company said the fintech was modeled after Cash App, an American mobile payment service developed by Square and it lets users send and receive money without using their bank account, just their Abeg tag.
The Abeg app though has been in existence since 2019 but came into the limelight in 2021 after it was unveiled as the lead sponsor of the sixth season of the popular Nigeria reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija).

How to sign up on the Abeg App

Before you will be able to request, receive or send money on the Abeg app, you need to have an account on the app. To do that, you have to sign up and be registered with the app.

Follow the following steps to create an account on Abeg

1. The Abeg App is available on both Play Store and App Store. First, go to Google Playstore or App Store to download the Abeg app and install it.
2. Open the app and choose to Create an Account
3. Enter your details such as full name, phone number, email address, and choose a password
4. You will receive an OTP on the phone number you provided, type in the OTP, and tap/click submit
5. Once that is done, you will be directed to the homepage where you can input your BVN and as well set your Abeg Tag.

How to Send/Transfer Money on Abeg App

If you have created an account on the Abeg App, you will be allowed to transfer money to another Abeg user absolutely for free. Follow these simple steps to transfer money on the Abeg app.

1. Log in to your Abeg app, and from the homepage, tap/click send
2. Enter the amount you want to transfer
3. Enter the Abeg Tag of the receiver, or you can scan through your Abeg contacts list for your beneficiary
3. Give the description of the money you want to send
4. Tap/click ‘Pay’
5.You wlll be asked if you are sure about the transfer you are about to make, if you are sure, tab/click Yes I’m Sure.
6. Immediately after that, your Abeg wallet will be debited and your beneficiary Abeg account will be credited.
You also have the option to choose to send money as an ‘Anon’anonymously in case you don’t want your beneficiary to know who sent them money.

How to Request and Receive Money on Abeg App

For you to request and receive money on the Abeg app, note that you must have an account on the app so you can have an Abeg tag.
Once your Abeg account has been created, follow the steps below:
1. Open the Abeg app and tap request
2. Enter the amount of money you are requesting from the sender.
3. Next, type in the ‘Abeg Tag’ of the person you that you are requesting the money from
4. You can now click on ‘Request’.
Once that is done, the user you requested money from will receive an instant notification and will be asked to accept the request or decline it.

How to Withdraw your Money from Abeg App

You should know that you can easily withdraw money from your Abeg Wallet and into your normal bank account without any hassle.
Here is a step-by-step procedure on how to withdraw/cash out your money from Abeg app into your bank account:
1. Open your Abeg app and go to Your Profile page
2. You will see Wallet Balance, choose it
3. Then select Withdraw
4. You can then select which account number you want to transfer the money to
5. Finally, click on submit
